It probably comes from years of commercial work, where you have to show your ideas before starting a piece… Sometimes, I pull a piece of acetate over a painting, try to figure out what is bothering me and test a few things. Sometimes, I scan them and use Photoshop to try some ideas, then go back and paint that way".
